Hey, y'all, I've Been a Little Bit Busy.

Lucky for me I posted this on my Facebook page last week at NanciCharpentierArt and someone took notice of it. She wanted to purchase it, however, she decided it was much too small of a painting for the wall in her kitchen. Solution - boom - commissioned painting. So, now I am planning my next painting which will incorporate several pieces from her home including a silver coffee urn, coffee cups, a cake plate, linens, and more in a much more complex painting. I can't wait to get started.

The "Magnolia Sky" painting (above) was inspired by my beloved state of Louisiana, y'all. For you foreigners (living outside of the state boundaries) or those of you natives that may have forgotten your Louisiana history, the beautiful magnolia is our state flower. There are so many paintings of magnolias in the South but when I passed by my neighbor's yard while running I noticed this one in particular with the morning sun shining on it. They were perfect and still opening up. That's when I knew I finally needed to paint one. It is a work in progress. As is my life.

And so, while waiting on one paint layer to dry on my "Magnolia Sky", my impatient self commenced to paint the "Morning Lilies". I've spent only a couple of days dedicated to it. I do find it interesting how the center of focus, the flowers in this painting, look different with the two different background colors. Still a work in progress and I can't wait to see how it ends up.

And, yes, thankfully, I have been busy. Busy painting. And I love it.

I Owe You Some Fruit, Marylyn.

I just want to thank Marylyn Daniel for leaving the pears she was going to eat for dinner tonight at my house as part of our still life set up so that I can finish the painting tomorrow. I owe you some fruit!
