As I'm trying to figure out what to bring tomorrow to paint (we're doing still life paintings cause it's gonna be cold - brrr) I realize that I never posted last week's painting.  This is it.

We sat up on top of the levee near LSU. I sat down and painted this because I forgot the attachment to connect my painting box to my tripod. Then we were interrupted by the Ponchartrain Levee District vehicles because some congressmen from D.C. needed to inspect the levee. I'm not sure how they were able to do that in the back of an SUV with tinted windows, but...I'm just grateful they didn't run me over. Plus, it was really windy this morning.

There was so much to paint because there were so many view to choose from. Jodi was able to paint in the opposite direction and painted LSU with Tiger Stadium in the background. Marylyn was able to paint looking toward downtown.  The two others went back to the LSU lakes to paint. Everyone was satisfied with their paintings and that is highly unusual. Really, five women happy at the same time is a concept my husband just wouldn't believe.  But it's true!

My pretty face made the paper today!

Associated Women in the Arts
Archives Gallery Show and Sale
October 17, 2013

This is a clipping from the paper this morning. I didn't even see it. My husband had to tell me about it. This is how that went...  Husband - Hey, Nanci, did you see that you're in the paper today? Me - What!?!  (dance, dance, dance around the kitchen) Daughter - See, Dad, I told you she hadn't seen it yet.

We worked so hard on making this show a great show and reception and it turned out beautifully. Several paintings were sold that night, too. And thanks to Pat Wattam for taking this photo and having it submitted to Pam's Party Line in The Advocate. So cool.

My next adventures include one Open House next Friday night at Tonya Polozola's house, with my plein air painting girls (Thank You, Tonya); and then, in December, my own show at Beauregard Gallery and Bistro. Beauregard is located downtown Baton Rouge at 715 Europe Street and is open for lunch during the work week. So get down there next month, grab some lunch, and do some Christmas and holiday shopping. Oooh, gettin' ready, gettin' ready.
